New songs, new space, t-shirts awailable

Brúðarbandið has now returned from a well deserved autumn break. We moved to a new rehearsal space, lavishly decorated with red carpet and we also have some new material ready for the Airwaves festival. We can't wait to play the new songs for our beloved fans! :)

Dísa has now been welcomed as Brúðarbandið's 8th member as our dear Sunna is going back to university full time. We're happy to have her on board! :)

Finally, those of you who pass through Reykjavík can now buy our fine and fancy t-shirts in the lovely shop Illgresi. It's located in a backhouse off Laugavegur 15, right opposite Mál og Menning, the big bookstore. Apart from the amazing Brúðarbandið t-shirts, Illgresi also sells a wide variety of vintage clothing and curious items.

Home from Roskilde!

The Brides have now all reached Iceland again, safe and sound. We are tired but happy after this fantastic festival and we thank everyone who showed up for our gig! :) We love you all and you really made our day that beautiful wednesday!

We got lots of media attention as usually and we plan to put up a special Roskilde subdivision on our site with interviews both readable and watchable. And lots of photos of course and stories of sun, beer, proposals and happiness! This juicy stuff should be reality early next week :)

New video, UTV, Roskilde interviews and info

UTV will interview us and perhaps we'll play at their studio on the day of our Roskilde gig, the wednesday 29th, at 18:00. So if you can't make it to Roskilde at least some of you can have us brought to your homes.

We will also be interviewed by Roskilde Festival Radio 12:30 that same day. The festival radio is produced in colloboration between 5 college radios in in Denmark so check their website for frequencies if you are interested! :)

We have a few interview with magazines lined up and we'll keep you posted about when they will appear and if they will be accessible on the internet.

The festival offers mobile users all kinds of service, you can have news from the fextival sent to your phone and get pictures and sounds from bands of your choice. We are participating in that so if you are interested here is where you go to check that out!

For those who wish to prepare for our concerts the lyrics to our songs can be found here. We even added an english translation, well, of a sort... for those whose icelandic is still limitited! :)

The other day we were interviewed and photographed by very sweet japaneese people and an american photographer who work for a supercool japaneese magazine. We had great fun with them and are looking forward to seeing the pictures of us running, stubling and falling down a hill... :)

We have added a new mp3 and a new and supercool animated video to the music part of our site. Do check it out!

Our brand new drummer and further Roskilde info

It is time to announce that once again we have a brand new drummer. Dísa hurt her shoulder and can't come with us to Roskilde. Thus Óli (of former Graveslime fame and of current Skátar fame) will be our drummer for Roskilde. Rehearsals have been going very smoothly and we will rock you as never before on Roskilde.

We are scheduled to play our Roskilde gig at 15:15. UTV has expressed interest in us doing an interview and playing live at their studio. We'll keep you posted about that.

The history section on out website is now working. Read all about us!

Massive reconstruction

As those of you who have been here before might see, we are reconstructing our site to better please our non-icelandic speaking fans. So, some of the design will look shitty for the next couple of days and you might still come across some icelandic. Couple of subsections are also yet to be translated. Bear with us, it will be perfect in few days. Most of the site though is now fully functionable in english! Aren't you happy? :)

And yes, this means that we will try to post more frequently in english than we have been doing. Yay! :)

A short but sweet update on the lovely brides

The artfestival in Ystad was terrific! We had such a good time and met heaps of sweet sweet people! Thank you Ystad! :)

The latest news are that Sonic Youth (yes, the rock gods) chose us to open for them at their Reykjavík gig on the 16th of august. We have been jumping around, blushing with pride, ever since we got the news! :)

The Rotterdam gig we had planned fell through. So no brides for the people of Rotterdam. :(

Summer is here and we are happy. See you at Roskilde! :)

Brúðarbandið does Skandinavia

Brúðarbandið will be playing in Sweden on april 23rd as part of the Openmusic festival in Ystad. We plan to play a few other gigs in Sweden and perhaps also in Danmark but as for neither where or when has been decided on. We will tell you as soon as we´ve gotten any dates fixed! :)

We will also be playing in Rotterdam, Holland in september. We'll keep you posted :)

Sunna, our pregnant drummer is doing fine and she will be having a wee little baby in about a month. She played her last gig for now last thursday and Dísa, she who toured the USA with us, will be filling in for Sunna until the latter feels ready to start rocking and rolling again. :)

We had a great time in the states, we never imagined that we'd meet so many fantastic people or that everyone would be so kind to us. Thanks to all of you who came to see us, to the bands that played with us and to everyone that helped us keep the show going! :)
